Sensing the Space is a small-group aromatherapy experience presented in conjunction with Flat by Szelit Cheung at Fou Gallery. Set within this quiet, contemplative exhibition—where color, light, and spatial restraint invite close attention—the session explores how subtle aromatic elements can heighten spatial awareness, evoke memory, and deepen perception. Led by aromatherapy practitioner Amy Anthony, the workshop sits at the intersection of contemporary art engagement, sensory perception, and atmosphere, offering a rare opportunity to encounter an exhibition through multiple senses at an intimate, unhurried pace.
Rather than a traditional aromatherapy or art lecture, participants explore an evocative question: How do we feel a painting without touching it? Through attentive looking and subtle aromatic exploration, you’ll notice how scent molecules can shift your relationship to space, memory, and the artworks themselves. Curiosity and openness are all that’s needed as the session blends stillness, sensory exploration, and personal reflection. You will leave with a handmade aromatherapy object—a composed sensory memory of your encounter with the artworks and the space.
