Painting is an everyday activity and spiritual need for Shuling Guo (郭淑玲). Through painting, she depicts the scenes and colors hidden in the folds of memories, and creates a connection to another space beyond the picture frame. The 5–6 pm series was completed aboard the sailing vessel Selkie during a sub-tropical Winter filled with light and sensation. The size of the series is small, constrained by the limited space aboard. It aims to present as many colors and gray scales as possible on 10-12 inch square frames. The subtle changes in palette conveys visual and other senses—touch, smell, and hearing.
