This is a 2-hour mycology workshop designed to deepen participants’ understanding of mushrooms and mycelium through hands-on artmaking and sensory experiences. This immersive exploration highlights how mushrooms can enhance well-being across various dimensions—from physical health and creativity to fostering a deeper connection with nature.

The workshop begins with an introduction to mycology, medicinal mushrooms, and their traditional uses. Participants will enjoy a guided tasting of teas made from wild, cultivated, and medicinal mushrooms, providing a unique opportunity to experience the flavors and benefits of these fungi firsthand.

Following the tasting, we’ll explore the theme of parasitism in nature through a natural dyeing session. Using Cordyceps mushrooms, known for their parasitic relationship with caterpillars, participants will create tie-dyed silk, echoing nature’s intricate cycles of symbiosis and transformation. This workshop offers a mindful, creative approach to understanding mushrooms while embracing the cycles of growth and interconnectedness that define the natural world.

*All materials will be provided. You are encouraged to bring mushroom specimens for identification, inspiration and material.
