Discover the art of storytelling through miniature painting in this intimate and inspiring workshop. Working within a tiny frame, participants will explore the freedom and precision of miniature painting, transforming delicate brushstrokes into intricate compositions. Under the guidance of artist Teng Teng, you will create a one-of-a-kind wearable artwork—a miniature painting set in a jewelry piece, designed to be carried with you as a personal token of beauty and meaning. Miniature painting is an art form that invites focus, patience, and mindfulness. The act of working on a small scale fosters deep concentration, allowing you to slow down and immerse yourself in the details. In this workshop, you’ll learn techniques to create fine, layered textures and harmonious color compositions, embracing the meditative quality of the process. Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to experiment, express yourself, and craft a piece of art that speaks to your individuality.
*All materials will be provided and no prior painting experience is needed.
Instructor
Teng Teng (@Instagram) is New York based artist from China, specializing in painting across multiple mediums, including watercolor, oil, and acrylic. Her Microcosm Painting series draws inspiration from ancient Chinese hand scrolls—a treasured and portable art form dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Her work encapsulates the passage of time within a miniature frame, designed to be carried and shared as a token of beauty and meaning. Designed by the artist, these 1.1 x 1-inch frames—crafted from alloy, silver, and 18k gold—serve as elegant vessels for her intricate paintings. Each piece can be worn as a brooch, necklace, or ring, transforming the wearer into a moving gallery. She has led workshops at the Queens Museum(New York) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York). Her work has been featured in New York Fashion Week (NYFW), Vogue magazine, and Business Insider.
